The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way for people with a disability and their families to gain support and community services.
At ACD, we focus on assisting parents to understand and navigate the NDIS rollout and to ensure they are prepared for their NDIS planning meeting.
It is important to know the potential funding options that are available, and to ensure that every child’s needs will be met through this understanding. ACD is running workshops exclusively for parents to better navigate this process and feel prepared for their first NDIS planning meeting.
Where a permanent and significant disability exists, NDIS will fund supports to achieve individual goals.
What ACD Support provides for parents:
To provide education for parents to achieve better results in their NDIS planning meeting. These workshops are a three-part progressive series designed to help parents navigate the challenges of NDIS planning.
Our workshops are run in small groups at various locations, including schools. Any of the locations held at schools where your child does not attend will be confirmed in the weeks leading up to the event.
The NDIS Planning Workbook directly follows the questions you will face in the NDIS planning meeting. This is a free resource that will enable you to think about your child’s needs, current supports and future supports and goals.
Find a local support network with other parents/peers to share the joys and challenges in a supportive, understanding environment.
In Victoria, for information on whether your child meets the NDIS access requirements please refer to the NDIS Access Checklist
