Description: |
A Youth Group similar to the style of Scouts which exists predominantly for children 5 to 18 years of age with special needs but which also invites participation of siblings and friends. We also have a group for young adults from ages 19 to 25 years of agefor members with Disabilities only. The philosophy of the group follows that integration can be productive and educational if first priority is placed on the individual with a disability while a secondary reference is given to the individual's siblings and peers ages between 5 to 18 years old.
Our group is held every Tuesday Nights evening during the school term with a combination of play activities, badge work, movies, swimming and craft/bush skills. Special events include camping, discos etc. Group runs from 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm. The program is not disability specific and includes ADHD. Parents are also encouraged to become members and participate in the program with their children. The Khaki Rebels are now covered by public liability insurance. Youth members have a rank structure. Khaki Rebels Youth groups now all operate from our Melton Hall.

However, subsidised costs apply for families where there may be some economic difficulties. All kids are also encouraged to join as a 'casual member' (free) which entitles them to participate in the occasional activity and/or an annual camp. If your child is under an Agency on most occassions that agency will pay the cost of their fees/ uniform and camps. |
