Description:

The Big Mouth Camp is a joint venture of the Communication Aid User's Society and DEAL Communication Centre. It is a residential camp for children/young adults (school age) using electronic communication devices and their families (including siblings) and carers. The aim of the camp is for those using the electronic devices to improve their device use and become much more competent communicators in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. Another aim of the camp is the provision of separate sibling recreation sessions each morning to give the siblings of those using the electronic communication devices their own special time and attention. Families are advised to express their interest for placement in either camp. For families and siblings of a school age person using an electronic communication device. School age siblings will most benefit from the sibling recreation sessions. The camp costs $200.00 per family. This price includes all members of the family as well as carers/integration aides etc. It is worth noting that scholarships are available to assist with this fee. The camp offers placement for a ceiling number of 15 families.
