Vehicle Modifications
Vehicle Modification Subsidy Scheme
The Aids and Equipment Program Vehicle Modification Subsidy Scheme commenced operation on 2 June 2008.
It is great news that Victoria now has a vehicle modifications scheme. Western Australia is the only other state or territory that has a similar type of scheme.
The vehicle modification subsidy will be available to Victorians with a permanent or long-term disability who meet the eligibility criteria for the Aids and Equipment Program.
A maximum subsidy of up to $10,000 is available to assist with the purchase of prescribed modifications to suit individual circumstances.
Funding for the replacement of a vehicle modification will be considered after a minimum of seven years.
Note: the subsidy is intended as a contribution towards the purchase cost of modifications and is not intended to meet the full cost of all vehicle modifications.
The scheme will be administered from a single statewide issuing centre based at the Aids and Equipment Program run by Ballarat Health Services.
